What is Session Summary & Homework Sheet Worksheet

Session summary, is a way of summarizing, formulating the therapeutic sessions in simple and short swords, It is like writing  a precis, after a detailed session of 45 minutes (usually) , you just write down the important points of the session in the form of a summary,  Session summary is about connecting dots from one to another, creating  a map of all the things and factors that how are they linked together and what effect do they have on that issue.

Homework is a highly structured task, it can be defined as “specific, structured, therapeutic activities that are regularly taught and discussed in session, homework is usually given for home or work to be completed between sessions.

How will Session Summary & Homework Sheet Worksheet help?

Session summaries are extremely useful for the client as well as the therapist to maintain the track of the sessions. They help you in understanding the link of the client’s present illness with his previous experiences, also it tells you about the progress of the client.  Session summary also helps in case conceptualization and in formulating a better treatment plan for the client.

Homework is given by the therapist for practicing the skills that are taught in  a session. Change can’t be brought by just working with the therapist for a specific amount of hours, you have to keep practicing the skills or the techniques that are taught to you during  the session. Homework is all about practicing those skills at home.

It is a great way to reflect back the session, you don’t have to go back to each session or every sesion note, by just reading a session summary. You will get an idea of whatever has happened during the session and how so many issues are linked together. Use the worksheet to know how important a session summary is and how the therapist uses it for the treatment of the client.
