What is the Cycle of Abuse worksheet?

Abuse is violence, treating someone badly and depriving them of their rights. Abuse can be physical as well as emotional. Often, people let them get abused in a relationship, it is a power-play.

There are four stages of the abuse cycle.

  1. Tension building
  2. Incident
  3. Reconciliation
  4. Calm

How the Cycle of Abuse worksheets will help?

It has four steps,

  1. Tension Building

The stage at which the tensions start building, the abuser starts feeling alone, annoyed, triggered and irritable.

  1. Incident

At this stage, the victim says or does something the abuser feels upset about or threatened by, and the abuser attempts to dominate the target through verbal, physical, or sexual abuse.

  1. Reconciliation

At this stage the abuser will try to reconcile with the victim, he might feel remorse about what he has done. He will promise the victim to never do the same ever in his life. The abuser will blame the situation or the circumstances under which he abused the victim

  1. Calm

At this stage, the abuser becomes calm and quiet, the victim feels that he has changed and accepts the apology. But after some time the same behaviour starts all over again in a passive-aggressive way.
